Julian Mason
‘To me, nothing is more challenging or exhilarating than a blank canvas between you and the landscape.’
At the age of 21, after studying at Falmouth College of Art and Design, Julian Mason has earnestly dedicated himself to communicating his love of the landscape through his paintings. Julian’s work endeavours to capture the atmospheric effects of a scene and how the elements influence the landscape. From dramatic views of the Peaks to seascapes of Cornwall, each painting is the culmination of technical skill mixed with the insatiable desire to invite an equally passionate response from the viewer. Julian Mason is an artist whose passion is to truly reflect the unique beauty of the British Isles in his work. For the last 20 years Julian has been braving the elements to capture some of the most awe inspiring landscapes in the country.
On 10th September 2011 Julian Mason is holding a solo exhibition at the Harrison Lord Gallery. This exhibition is a culmination of a year’s work that reflects the way each season shapes and defines the landscape. Although well known for paintings of coastal scenes, the peaks and mountains, Julian has spent the summer in Yorkshire concentrating his eye on how cultivated farmland gives way to rugged hill country. Working in oils on canvas and always painting from life, Julian is able to produce work that encourages all who view it to see the landscape with an enlivened sense of appreciation.
