Rob Chappell

“In the development of my work, I retain a strong interest in the both landscape and natural form through both observation and colour. My work is informed by the works of Sammuel Palmer, Peter Blake, David Inshaw, Graham Ovenden & the English pastoral tradition, as well as the brilliance of colour to be found in the paintings of both the renaissance period and the work of artists such as Hockney. The work reflects the enjoyment of the painting and image making process. A delight in the repetitive mark and the free-flowing form as well as bold, energetic brush stokes. The creation of a feel that is a mixture of both the realistic and the naïve with all forms, regardless of size and location within the space of the painting, made to adhere to the frontal plane”
