Ron Smith was born and bred in Bradford, West Yorkshire and has lived there all his life. However, despite being successful at art in school, and the wishes of his tutors, Ron did not go on to art college but entered the workforce as a stone mason. Because of this Ron only began to paint again during retirement.
One of Ron’s influences includes Roland Hilder, an American born artist who spent the majority of his life in England - He was often described as the Turner of his generation. However, most of all it is his Yorkshire surroundings that moves Ron to create his wonderful paintings;
