As featured in the Yorkshire Post – David Smith is a highly talented and well established artist from Halifax, West Yorkshire.
His latest work is inspired by the great L. S. Lowry and features northern town scenes. Look out for the depictions of people at work and play – highly characterful figures, all different and beautifully painted.
Also of special note are the Huddersfield Town references.
David said “Being a Northerner with a few years under my belt I’ve observed a lot of changes over the past few decades.
Long before cameras were as a common as coins in your pocket I chose to record my surroundings with paint. I painted as a hobby when I was younger but eventually decided to pursue it full time.
My aim is to record life and the surroundings we live in – past and present.
It’s an affectionate look at bygone times with a touch of gentle humour.
If it makes you smile then my job is complete.”
