Josie was born in Manchester. Her parents were Italian immigrants who returned to Italy when she was young, so she never completed her schooling and spent a few formative years under a Neapolitan sun. Though Josie never studied art she’s fortunate to be gifted with the ability to draw anything she sees and much of what she doesn’t see. she was an IT trainer for many years, it was around 2012 she started experimenting with paint.
Her compositions are made up of acrylic, heavy paste work and mixed media.
Many of her street scenes are heavily influenced by her childhood: the characters are often working folk of times gone by with a mix of Anglo/Mediterranean influence. She loves to create tableaux of life in a community, where each time you look you find yet another character up to mischief, with adults, children and animals constantly upstaging each other!
Her art is a source of joy and she hopes that your discovery of her art might also give you cause to smile
